ARTIST STATEMENT

My practice-led research is concerned with the responses of people in the present to the social life of the present. Based on the principles of keen sensibility and accurate expression, I construct the real present world with personal identity as the cone point. The present world is a moment in the history of mankind, moreover, it is   unique and can be truly perceived by artists who live seriously. Works are material carriers, infused with spiritual energy through various means of art in an attempt to convey effective messages across time and space.

At present, the main object of my research is the first generation of left-behind children in China. As a matter of fact, due to the influence of economic globalisation, this special group of left-behind children has spread all over Asia, including the children of Chinese migrant workers, Filipino maids, Indian skilled labourers, and so on. Now they are all growing up and entering the society.  A lonely childhood shaped their character and now they are participating in building our new society.

I am interested in the reactions of the first generation of children left behind in the face of socially mandated tasks, e.g. the  SMART group.

The aim of this practice-led research is not to depict reality in concrete terms, but to refine and rewrite it through feelings; and to combine it with exploratory writing to establish an organic combination of presence consciousness and contemporary painting, providing a channel for "seeing" from the perspective of personal identity, and opening up a pathway from the present to the future.
